Biography

 

Willem Brabants is a doctoral researcher at the University of Liege and the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK-CEN). His academic fields of interest are situated within Science and Technology Studies and include i.a. sociotechnical imaginaries, the politics of nuclear energy and the scientific advisory process. Ever since he wrote his master's dissertation on the present-day crisis of expertise, he has been interested in the intricate interplay of regulatory science and public policy. As of February 2024 he is investigating how safety and security concepts and practices come about in nuclear innovations - particularly with respect to small modular reactors - and how do they interact in this process.
