Jérôme De Cooman reçoit le 'Best Junior Paper Award' au colloque international du CRIDS !
La semaine dernière, dans le cadre du colloque international du CRIDS à l'Université de Namur, le 'Best Junior Paper Award' a été décerné à Jérôme De Cooman, assistant au sein du service de droit européen.
L'article est le fruit de ses recherches doctorales, co-encadrées par les professeurs Pieter Van Cleynenbreugel et Nicolas Petit, sur la réglementation des technologies d'intelligence artificielle. Ce prix constitue une très belle reconnaissance non seulement de la pertinence de ses recherches mais aussi de l'originalité et du caractère rigoureux de ses travaux écrits.
M. De Cooman est récompensé pour un papier intitulé : 'From the Regulation of Artificial Intelligence by Society to the Regulation of Society by Artificial Intelligence: All Along the Watchtower'.
Abstract
This paper discusses the bidimensional definition of regulation by design, i.e., “any alteration of human or technological behaviour through algorithmic code or data” (p. 448). The author argues that cyberspace made possible the advent of the digital society. If code is the new regulation, coders are the new regulators. Questions nevertheless remain as to how law can ensure appropriate regulation by design mechanisms in the AI Age. This conceptual paper identifies these questions and proposes two solution – a procedural and a substantive – that would render by-design regulation through AI more fundamental righs-proof.
